The Golden Temple of Amritsar, at the 3rd place of the list, is located in Amritsar. Although known as the Golden Temple, its original name is Sri Harmandir Sahib (which means the temple of God). This is the most important religious place for Sikhs (though people of other religions also come here). The temple was built by the 5th Guru, Guru Arjan, which was built from 1577 to 1604 AD. The bottom part of this temple, composed of the Hindu and Islamic styles, is made of marble stone, in which there is a look of various flowers and animals and a lotus flower in the upper golden dome, which is the symbol of purity for Sikhs. But in the middle of the 18th century, some parts of the temple were destroyed in the Afghan invasion, which was restored in 1764. And in the beginning of the 19th century, Raja Ranjit Singh decorated the temple with gold, from whom the temple was known as “gold temple”.
